Grades 3-5 had an amazing adventure on the Avalon’s annual camping trip to Sandy Point beach, complete with swimming, baseball, jousting, cooking, s’mores, ultimate frisbee, and—an Avalon first—a hunt for buried pirate treasure that began the night before when a group of boys discovered a message in a bottle washed up on the “secret beach,” a mystery that would not resolve until after our arrival at the beach the following morning.
None of this would have possible without Mr. Alicea, Mr. Lund, Mr. Zuniga and all the fathers who made the trek to help out. According to Mr. Teleki, Assistant Head of School, “these boys were a remarkable witness to friendship, generosity, and cheerfulness—toward one another and toward me.” Well done, boys!
