At the annual House Awards Ceremony, Avalon students were recognized for their outstanding performance on the National Latin Exam. Mr. Kevin Oriani, who leads Avalon’s Latin program, presented the awards with his customary enthusiasm, giving fitting honor to the boys whose hard work earned them medals and certificates.
This year, eight students received the highest honors and gold medals, while another eight earned silver medals. Additional students were recognized with third- and fourth-place certificates. Avalon’s strong showing also brought in valuable house points, adding even more excitement to the year-end celebration.
Three Avalon classes—Latin B, Latin II, and Latin III—exceeded the National Latin Exam averages. In recognition of this achievement, the students earned a celebratory paintball outing with Mr. Oriani and several other teachers.
The awards were met with great enthusiasm from the student body, with plenty of cheering as the boys were honored. While Stewart House ultimately won the house competition for the year, the Latin awards brought a special level of fanfare and joy to the day, highlighting the continued strength of Avalon’s robust Latin program.
