Tom Tobin’s love of language is reflected in his history, which includes more than a decade of teaching English at all levels of the curriculum at Springbrook High School, where he designed and implemented the English component of the International Baccalaureate curriculum, the school’s signature program, prior to joining the Avalon faculty.
Now in his fourteenth year at Avalon, Tom brings his experience to the classroom as head of the Upper School English program, where he teaches Advanced Placement English, Honors English II, and English I and II.
A graduate of the Georgetown University with a B.A. in English literature, Tom received an M.P.A. from George Washington University and a M.Ed. from the University of Maryland.
He lives in Aspen Hill, MD with his wife, Grainne, and their four children, Matthew ’16, Daniel ‘18, Liam, and their daughter, Maggie (Brookewood ’22).
