About Matt Stroot

B.A. Wake Forest University

Matthew Stroot continues to bring his extensive and dynamic classroom skills to the Middle and Upper schools this year, teaching Middle School Math, Algebra I & II and English and Upper School Geometry.

Matt’s more than twenty years of classroom experience is augmented by two decade’s work as a coach. His success leading a local swim team, the Cedarbrook Seahawks, to division championships was reflected in the successful inaugural year of the swim team he established at his alma mater, The Heights School, and as coach of the junior varsity basketball team.

Matt earned his B.A. from Wake Forest University, where he majored in English. He also aided in growing the college’s club swim team and worked with the homeless at the Samaritan Inn, a men’s shelter in the Winston-Salem area.

Matt and his wife, Lesley, and their two daughters, Katie (Brookewood ‘26) and Audrey (Brookewood ‘28), and son, Kolbe (Avalon ’31), reside in Brookeville, MD
