About Bridget Croarkin

Miss Bridget Croarkin (Brookewood ’19) holds a B.A. in theology with a minor in classical languages from Ave Maria University. She is a member of a founding Brookewood family. While attending Ave Maria University, Bridget worked for the admissions and marketing departments, running Ave Maria’s Giving Society.

Since 2023, Bridget has been Avalon’s reading specialist and lower school religion teacher. Trained through the Apple Group for Dyslexia, an Orton-Gillingham-based program that has earned accreditation through the International Dyslexia Association, Bridget is a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist. She is trained and certified to teach Connection OG in 3D at the whole-class level, as well as in individual or small-group interventions. Trained in both the Apple Group’s Dyslexia Screener and the Acadience Reading K–6 Benchmark Assessment, Bridget administers and scores screenings for Avalon’s primary school students. She is additionally trained in the Apple Group’s comprehension and study skills classes.

As Avalon’s reading specialist, Bridget offers small-group reading support in the primary grades. Along with leading her reading groups, Bridget provides sacramental preparation, teaches religion to second and third grade, and teaches P.E. to first grade.

Bridget lives in Silver Spring and enjoys reading, writing, baking, and painting in her free time. As her students can tell you, Miss Croarkin also loves coffee and Sour Patch Kids candy—although not together.
